Dayr al-Garnus is approximately 10 km. west of Ishnin al-Nasara. There we visit the Church of the Holy Virgin and receive a blessing from the water of the Holy Family well which according to tradition the Holy Family drank from and blessed. Pilgrims frequently visit the church to drink from this well to get ‘baraka’ or blessing. The current Church of the Holy Virgin in Dayr al – Garnus, was founded in 1924. It was built on the site of a 17th century church, which in turn was built in place of a 7th century church. The iconostasis of the current church of the Holy Virgin dates to 1591. One finds in this church a beautifully decorated 19th century liturgical book.
