The ancient capital of Egypt. Still many remains can be seen from that period. Early Christians built churches in Memphis in defiance of the pagan worship of those days. There are no remains of those churches. The remains of the Monastery of Apa Jeremiah in Memphis have been transferred to the Coptic museum.
